curious case of pirated movies!!

Terrorists win by watching Pirated movies?

Is it true? really? Nah, cant be, right???
that was my reaction when somebody questioned my recent acquisition of western movies that i was dying to watch, but could not find them in any of the stores in bangalore.

its easy to forget how effortless it is to purchase movies when you can hop-skip-jump to a walmart, target, best buy, circuit city(oops, they shut. CRAP) in the US.

its much much harder to buy these originals in lesser privileged societies, such as ours. And i am not just talking about availability, but also purchasing power.

On reading the article below, however i felt little better about what i had done, and stopped feeling bad for the poor production houses that need to protect their investments.

my personal opinion is that as long as the movies on DVD are priced same in every region of the world, people will resort to buying cheaper rip offs. ever wonder why torrent is mostly used by non-americans for movie downloads??

Back to Bangalore

Its been close to 3 months since I've posted anything (not that I have readers waiting with abated breadths for my new posts).
Anyhow, a lot has happened since then. opened a new blog ( a belated effort to join the bandwagon of mba blogs out there), finished school and graduated with my mba degree, got a job at TI-India, and am finally back in bangalore after living in the US for 10 years.
On my first day home, I was thrilled when i read the morning newspaper (Times of India). ESPN wud telecast live coverage of Miami & Heats Eastern champhionship Finals. After settling down in front of the TV, and switching over to espn after getting a few laughs watching DD National, I was horrified to find some local soccer ( or just plain football) Mohun bagaan game on. Go Chatterjee go!!, shoot a friggin goal, so i can watch Shaq & Chauncy Billups fight it out in the last crucial game of this 7 game series. Anyhow, no such luck. That's It!! No more NBA for me. I'll be buying Mohun bagaan red shorts, and netted baniyaan's over the next couple of weeks.

Can somebody give me an executive summary of this translated page ( from Spanish to English)

These translated pages are absolutely useless. I wonder if these websites are being charged for click thru's on translated pages. Bloody insane!!!!

Google's language translation

Translating webpages from one language to another must definitely be a real challenge.
Case in point. Click on the Title, which directs you to Google's translation of a very popular colombian local paper, El Tiempo, from Spanish to English. I think I can understand the original El Tiempo website better, even with my limited spanish comprehension skills.

I'm going to try a portugese website next:-)
