iPhone 3.0 for iTouch 1G ????

i've been waiting eagerly for what's new on the new iphone 3.0 sw ( beyond the cut-n-paste feature that was strangely missing from earlier iphone/itouch's.)

Well- so come Mar 18th ( TODAY) 3.0 is out!!

since i still have the old iTouch 1G ( which i sadly found out after digging out an old article from engadget), there will be quite a few features that i will not be able to access and experience.

features that anyone with Iphone 1G should be able to access:

1) 1000+ new API's - i seriously feel that will really give Apple an even more hard to catch up lead over the others, as the new API's will only translate to a plethora of new applications that consumers will chomp on from day 1. most  of them should work on iPhone 1G.
2) 'shake' features added to email/notes clients, should work on 1G

one of the major features that iphone 1G users will not  be able to access is the A2DP BT streaming as the 1G does not have the HW that the 2G has :( As one of my friends would say "WHAT A CRAP"

Google's language translation

Translating webpages from one language to another must definitely be a real challenge.
Case in point. Click on the Title, which directs you to Google's translation of a very popular colombian local paper, El Tiempo, from Spanish to English. I think I can understand the original El Tiempo website better, even with my limited spanish comprehension skills.

I'm going to try a portugese website next:-)

No matter where i go, soul is in the same place.

On one of my recent web searches at 3:00 am in the morning after a weekend night at a housparty, I heard this song that went "no matter where i go, soul is in the same place". Even in my inebriated state, i was instantly transported to my last visit to Bangalore. Not to get too reflective here, but I am amazed how strongly i feel about 'home', even after living in the US for 10 years.

How is my Espanol?

Quite pathetic. Am easily forgetting whatever little I picked up on my last trip to Bogota. I dont have any spanish speaking friends to practice my spanish with in Boston( Tu Hablar Espanol, no puedo espanol, jo hablo poquito espanol..stop it!!), and the little time I get to talk with Luisa, we dont get to practise my spanish atall....So, for now i am still stuck with all these phrases that I memorized on my last two trips to Bogota
Muy Lindo....Jo Queiro hablo con luisa, por favor. Muchas gracias, Senorita. muchas frio...como estas...jo estava esperando tu llamanda....grrr....yeah- growling is allowed in spanish too.

Ok , enough. The one thing I am happy about with Luisa being in Bogota( I hope she never gets to this page) is that I can get real cheap calling cards to Colombia. Rates to Bogota are as low as 0.03 cents/min. And.....Colombia is only one hr behind the US. That is sweet. I instantly empathize with all my Indian friends who have had to nurture LD relationships with their loved ones in India. You come back from a long day at work, and you cannot reallly call India, as it is probably real early out there.
But, I'll empathize only for a minute though..It sucks having your lady love in a diffirent continent, no matter what the diffirence in time zones.
Back to my fav country, Colombia. There is so much negative press given to this country, I think i am going to start a series titled " All things good about Colombia". ( I am up for any suggestions from any one out there who gets to my blog).

Who would have thought, Indian Motorbikes used as a means of transport in exotic islands off the caribbean sea! The man (or woman) behind this idea deserves a Cigar! ...and a fine 18 yr old scotch to go along with that! Muy Bein!!
